Parent Feedback:
Shaughn understands the complexity of what it takes to play, respect and cherish the game of the baseball. He loves this game and serves as a great role model both on and off the field. Coach Shaughn emphasizes the basics at every lesson and tenaciously drives the kids to meet their potential. He keeps players engaged, enthusiastic and tailors each lesson to where the player is both physically and mentally.
When we asked our 10 year old son to describe what sets Shaughn apart he said, “Coach Shaughn can help you go farther, he is funny and focused”.
We are truly fortunate to have such great talent in Chapel Hill.

We first met Shaughn when my son attended his baseball camp for a week last summer. My son had a great time and I was impressed at how organized Shaughn was when dealing with 65 boys.
When Ryan decided to play fall baseball, we felt it was time to get him some private hitting lessons with Shaughn. Halfway through his season, his coach told us that he needed Ryan to start pitching, so of course we went straight to Shaughn to work on Ryan's throwing. Needless to say, Ryan started throwing strikes and ended the season with 4 homeruns.
It takes more than being just a ball player to teach young kids the mechanics of the sport, and Shaughn is not only a ball player, but a great teacher too. Ryan loved his lessons with Shaughn and looks forward to more camps in the future. Ryan's older brother saw how much fun Ryan has had working with Shaughn, and what a great sport baseball is, and has decided he wants to play this spring also. Looks like we'll be contacting Shaughn for some more lessons.

"I like how it was organized in different skill stations. It was awesome to have coaches who have played for a long time. I definitely want to dot this camp next year"

"Lessons at Chapel Hill Baseball are a fantastic way for your son to build the skills he needs, both on the field and at the plate, to not only make his school team, but to be an impact player that gets plenty of playing time in a competitive environment. Coach Neal has an incredible amount of experience in the game of baseball and runs lessons in a fun way that engages players and motivates them to become better ball players."

"I played 3 years with Coach Neal in college and in 40 starts all of which he played second base he never made an error behind me. The most fundamentally sound infielder I have even had the priveledge of playing with or seeing. His lessons and training will be top notch. Coach Neal is very trustworthy, knowledgable, and passionate about what he does. To be the best you need to learn from the best and Coach Neal is just that. I would not hesitate to send any of my players to him."

For four years I had the pleasure of watching a young middle infielder play hard and pay attention to details. He did this with a joy for being on a ballfield and a love for baseball. The energy and personality he put into each day demonstrated this. He became an outstanding defensive presence in the middle infield and a very dependable #2 hitter. He played with passion and he motivated his teammates to perform. Shaughn Neal started for four years at Wingate University. He earned the right to be out there every day. He learned from coaches, other players but mostly from the situations he face in both games and practices. He was not robotic but did clearly understand the importance of having a correct and dependable approach whether approaching a ground ball, making the throw , hitting behind the runner when that was the correct approach. He was a gamer and a great practice player.
Shaughn served as a lead instructor in all of my summer and winter camps while he played at Wingate. All players gravitated toward him and learned from him. He has that knack to communicate and thus to teach.
I was thrilled and not surprised to learn that Shaughn had chosen to pursue coaching and teaching this great sport after his playing days ended. I suggest you take advantage of this excellent baseball teacher.
